Sam gained 9 wins, 8 second places and 2 thirds, and achieved more wins than the championship winners in both NGRRC and EMRA Formula 125 classes, but was knocked off at Snetterton in NGRRC so didn’t score in one round and he didn’t enter every round of the EMRA due to other race commitments and still finished just 2 points behind the leader.
He proved he could regularly finish in the top ten of the Superteens (once we had had the bike tuned mid-season!) and gained a best result of 2nd place at Cadwell Park. But was plagued with mechanical problems for the last two rounds and suffered a nasty bang on the head when high-sided at Donington Park at the last round (resulting in a trip to Nottingham Hospital and a CT scan) which meant he dropped back a couple of places in the final standings.
2009
Sam will be racing in JUNIOR POWERBIKE in 2009 with Thundersport GB as a stepping stone to racing Superstock 600cc, because although he has a ACU National Licence he cannot race a 600cc machine until after his 16th birthday in June 2009. He already has a Yamaha R6 that he will be testing abroad (where he can ride it at 15yrs) in preparation for BSB Superstock in 2010.
