welve straight podiums, including seven wins, have given Wilkins a strong lead in the points after three of nine rounds in the ThundersportGB series.
The Streetfighter class is for unfaired bikes with up to 130bhp at the wheel on the control dyno. Wilkins rides a converted Suzuki GSX-R750 K6 and it’s proving to be very competitive. Not only are the times faster than last season, when he won 17 races on an Aprilia Tuono and finished the year as runner up, the race times would put this naked bike well into the top ten in the Powerbike class at some circuits.
At the recent Snetterton round Wilkins missed the dry qualifying session and had to qualify in the wet, leaving him on the fourth row. He battled set-up problems to secure three podiums in the dry and in the wet race on the Sunday morning he came from 13th on the grid to win by eight seconds. All the action can be seen on MotorsTV (Sky 413).
Cadwell Park is next on the Bank Holiday weekend of 30-31 May. Jamie is supported by S&B Automotive Academy, White Dalton Motorcycle Solicitors, RJW Consultancy, and wears an RST Pro Series suit.
