Andrew Pitt gives RST first win
Andrew Pitt gave RST their first ever win at World Championship level this weekend at his home track of Philip Island.
Pitt the Former World Supersport champion scored a hard fought victory, getting his title bid back on track on home soil after the Hannspree Ten Kate team's disastrous start to the season in Qatar where Andrew T-Boned his team mate Jonny Rea at 110 mph after Rea had highsided in front of Andrew on the second lap.
Polesitter Pitt was involved in a huge battle with Fabien Foret, Robbin Harms and countryman Josh Brookes throughout, but overcame them all to score his third race win in the category, and his first on the Ten Kate Honda CBR600
"I came here very determined after Qatar," said the Aussie, reflecting on the unfortunate chain of events that saw him collect fallen team-mate Jonathan Rea's bike and crash out.
"We had to bounce back and we've done so in the best possible way. It was a tough race, with a big group of guys battling at the front, but I was confident I could work it out in the last laps and I did."
2008 Race support
This year we are continuing our close relationship with Andrew Pitt who will be riding with the Ten Kate HONDA team in World Supersport, the team that lifted the title last year. As many of you will know Andrew is a former World Champion in this class so we are all wishing him the luck that he will need to repeat this feat during the coming season. We also will be continuing our support of the Raceways Yamaha team with Hudson Kennaugh hoping to stamp his authority into British Supersport along with his countryman Ronan Quarnby and again we have Jon Kirkham pushing hard for the title in British Superstock with back up from team mate Gareth Glynn.
Along with UK1 Racing we are also proud to announce the entry of Taylor Mackenzie into the British 125GP Championship. Taylor has a wealth of experience on his young shoulders and is starting his campaign to emulate or better his father Niall which would be something for us all to look forward to. UK1 have also signed up Luke Jones who is the reining British 125 Champion. Luke will line up as favorite in the new Superstock 600 Championship.
Over sea's we are continuing our support of the Stauffer brothers in Australia. Jamie Stauffer took the Australian Superbike Championship wearing RST last season so we wish him the best of luck for this season.
