  • Biography:

Ian was born 12 August 1979 in Bingley West Yorkshire. From a young age Ian has had a passion for all things two wheel. Working as a motorcycle technician in his regular job has helped Ian with his knowledge and understanding regarding bike set up for his racing career.

Hutchy made his debut at the Manx GP in 2003 winning the newcomers race on a 600cc Honda wasn't until 2004 that Ian made his Isle Of Man TT debut on a Suzuki. Hutchy would only take one top ten finish in the formula 1 TT race.

Year on year Hutchy's TT performances improved, winning numerous races and also competing in the British Supersport Championship.

2010 Was Hutchy's record breaking year at the Isle Of Man TT, when he achieved a clean sweep of five solo wins. A first for any rider.

Unfortunately the latter part of Hutchy's 2010 season came to an abrupt end at Silverstone while racing in a British Supersport race. On the first lap of a wet race there was a collision involving several riders including Hutchy. While laying on the track he was struck by another rider resulting in compound fractures to his tibia and fibula in his left leg. The injury was horrific and he was advised of the possibility that he could loose his leg. However after sixteen operations, skin grafts and having to wear a metal cage on the leg for over a year, Ian is once again riding bikes.

Hutchy was ruled out of the 2011 Isle Of Man TT due to his leg injury but was invited to take part in the parade lap with race legend Mick Doohan and Moto GP stars Nicky Hayden and Cal Crutchlow. Hutchy once again showed his class by recording the highest top speed of the weekend, 198mph through the speed trap!!
