Growing up watching his dad racing motorcycles, Richard started his career at 16 and has been competing ever since.

After starting in a single-MANUFACTURER class (honda cb500 challenge) at 16, 'Coopes' has gone on to compete in multiple championships and at countless events in a 20+ year career to date.

Achievements

  • F900 R Cup Winner

    Coopes won the inaugural season of the BMW F900 R Cup, winning all 9 rounds en-route to claiming the championship.

  • British Superstock 1000 Champion x2

    Richard claimed the BSS titles in 2011 and 2019, riding for the for BMW and the Buildbase Suzuki teams respectively.

  • 7 BSB Podiums

    Coopes competed in the British Superbike class for 4 seasons during his career - claiming 7 podiums (including 2 race wins)

  • NW200 Fastest-ever Newcomer
    In 2019 Richard made his first appearance at the North West 200, breaking the record for the fastest speed by a new entry, with a speed of 120.6mph.

  • 8 NW200 Podiums
    Since making his debut at the event in 2019, Coopes has had significant success at the event - claiming 8 podiums (including 4 wins).

  • 40+ Races in BSB
    Since making his debut in the BSB paddock Richard has gone on to compete in more than 40 races to date.

  • 1st ever race winner in the BMW F900 R Cup
    Richard claimed victory in the maiden race of the 2023 BMW F900 R Cup, a single-manufacturer support class in the BSB series.

Richard has been an RST factory rider since 2016 and this year will be riding his BMW F900 R equipped with our Race Dept V4.1 Airbag Suit.

I achieved what I set out to achieve, I never had ambitions to be world champion, I wanted to be a successful british superbike rider, I achieved that.

TracTech Evo 4 glove combines the best of previous TracTech gloves with more features for a superb fit, comfort and protection. Made with both full-grain cowhide and kangaroo leather, the glove features a CE Level 1 Carbon Knuckle Protector for impact protection. Aramid Fibre on the palm stitching and underlay, along with double layer kangaroo leather and an RST palm slider protect the palm in the event of a high speed slide, while the double wrist and cuff closure offer a secure fit. Aramid Fibre lining throughout the rest of the glove prevents tearing, and elasticated conjoined fingers to prevent “finger roll” without affecting reach or flexibility when changing gear. The glove has a perforated outer to maximise airflow, digital leather panels on the palm and forefingers to enhance grip, a memory foam panel to the back of the hand to aid comfort and support, with pre-curved fingers to suit the contour of the hand on the handlebars.
