At just 23 years old, Charlie Nesbitt has already built a reputation as one of the most exciting and promising talents in British motorcycle racing. With 17 years of competitive experience under his belt, Nesbitt is no stranger to pressure, podiums, or pushing limits. But his story isn’t just about results—it’s about family, tradition, and a relentless pursuit of greatness.

From the pocket-bike circuits of his childhood to the high-stakes world of the British Superbike Championship (BSB), Charlie’s journey reflects a rare blend of natural ability, hard-earned skill, and deep-rooted passion. With sights firmly set on national domination and international glory, Nesbitt is writing the next chapter in a legacy that began long before he ever twisted a throttle.

Fuelled by Family: A Racing Story from Day One

Charlie’s introduction to racing didn’t come through coincidence—it was practically written into his DNA. Born on June 12, 2001, his earliest memories revolve around engines, paddocks, and the unmistakable hum of two-stroke pocket bikes.

“It was just normal to me,” Charlie recalls. “My dad raced, my brother raced... so being around bikes was all I knew. I was probably riding before most kids even had stabilisers off their bicycles.”

While many kids spent weekends in front of a screen or on the football pitch, Charlie spent his formative years in the heart of British motorsport paddocks, soaking in every sight, sound, and smell. His first step into competitive racing came at the tender age of six, and he’s never looked back.

“I remember being there, watching my brother go round the track. The whole family was involved—it wasn’t just a hobby. It was a lifestyle.”

That early immersion laid the foundation not just for his skills, but for his mindset. Racing wasn’t something Charlie had to learn to love—it was simply part of who he was. The paddock wasn’t a place he visited; it was home.

The Meaning Behind #86

Every racer has a number—a symbol stitched into leathers, printed on helmets, and etched into memory. For Charlie, the number 86 carries more than just numerical significance.

“There’s a family tradition behind it,” he explains. “My dad raced with 84, my brother chose 85, so it just made sense for me to go with 86. Then my sister picked 87. It’s our little lineage in number form.”

This subtle thread of family unity underscores everything in Charlie’s career. While motorsport is often seen as a solo pursuit, Nesbitt’s journey is marked by deep familial support and shared ambition. Every time he lines up on the grid, he’s not just racing for himself—he’s representing a legacy that spans generations.

Rising Through the Ranks

Over the past decade, Charlie has carved out an impressive resume. His raw speed, technical finesse, and unshakable composure under pressure have earned him British championship titles and multiple podium finishes in BSB—one of the most fiercely contested national championships in the world.

His progression through the junior ranks wasn’t without its challenges. Like every rising star, Charlie has faced crashes, setbacks, and seasons that didn’t go to plan. But what separates him from many is his ability to bounce back stronger.

“Every time you go down, you’ve got to come back up even more focused,” he says. “Racing teaches you that—resilience, adaptability, and hunger. You learn fast, or you get left behind.”

And learn fast he has. Each season has brought new experiences, new circuits, and new teams, but Charlie has adapted to them all with poise beyond his years.

Now firmly established in the BSB paddock, he’s earned the respect of competitors and fans alike—not just for his performances, but for his work ethic, humility, and relentless drive to improve.

Chasing Bigger Dreams

Despite the success so far, Charlie’s ambitions stretch far beyond the UK. His ultimate dream? To compete—and win—on the biggest stage of all.

“I want to be BSB champion first. That’s the next major goal. But eventually, I want to make the move to WorldSBK, and if everything lines up right—MotoGP is where I’d love to be.”

Ask him what the one dream victory would be, and the answer comes without hesitation: Silverstone. MotoGP.

“Winning at Silverstone, in front of the home fans, in MotoGP... that’s the one. That’s the pinnacle. That’s where every British racer wants to be.”

It’s not just a pipe dream. Charlie’s talent, racecraft, and growth trajectory make it a very real possibility. And with each race, he’s laying the groundwork for that leap to the world stage.

2025 BSB Season: Poised for a Breakthrough

Looking ahead to the 2025 BSB season, Charlie is dialled in like never before. Backed by a strong team, a solid bike, and years of experience, this season represents a critical opportunity to break through to the upper echelon of the championship.

“This year, the goal is simple: consistent podium finishes and a place in the top five of the championship standings. I know I’ve got the pace, and now it’s about executing every weekend, every session.”

Success in BSB doesn’t come easy. With a grid packed full of seasoned veterans, hungry youngsters, and factory-backed machinery, the margin for error is razor-thin. But Charlie isn’t phased. If anything, he thrives in the intensity.

“It’s one of the most competitive championships in the world,” he says. “But that’s why I love it. You’ve got to be at your best, all the time. It forces you to raise your game.”

Track Talk: Fast Corners and Mind Games

When it comes to favourite circuits, Assen and Thruxton top Charlie’s list. While very different in layout and geography, they share one critical quality: flow.

“I love fast, flowing tracks,” he says. “They’re a bit like playing chess at 180mph. Especially at places like Thruxton—tyre wear plays such a huge role, and you’ve got to be smart about when to push and when to hold back.”

At Thruxton, known for its ultra-fast corners and abrasive surface, races can often be decided by who manages their rubber best. It’s a circuit that rewards patience and punishes recklessness—something Charlie has mastered over time.

“Anyone can go fast for a few laps,” he smiles. “The real challenge is staying fast when everyone else is dropping off.”

Assen, with its flowing layout and iconic corners, is another circuit where Charlie feels at home. “There’s something special about it—maybe it’s the history, or just the rhythm of the track. Either way, it brings out the best in me.”

Partnership with RST: More Than Just a Suit

In the high-risk world of motorcycle racing, gear isn’t just about branding—it’s about protection, performance, and confidence. Since 2019, Charlie has worked with RST, one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of motorcycle apparel and race suits.

“Before I even signed with RST, I’d always noticed their presence in the paddock,” he says. “Top riders were using their suits, and everyone had good things to say. Once I got into one, I saw why.”

Charlie’s relationship with the brand deepened in 2023, when he rejoined RST full-time. Since then, he’s been involved in not just wearing the suits, but offering hands-on feedback to help refine the gear for riders across the spectrum.

“The difference in the suits since 2021 has been huge. The leather is much more supple, the lining stays put, and the fit is way better. The airbag system, in particular, has come on massively. It gives you that extra confidence to push the limits.”

RST’s integrated airbag technology, designed to detect crashes and deploy in milliseconds, has become a critical safety feature for modern riders. For Charlie, it’s a game-changer.

“You don’t want to think about crashing, but you have to prepare for it. Knowing you’ve got that tech looking out for your spine, your neck, your chest—it matters.”

More Than Just a Racer

Off the track, Charlie remains grounded and refreshingly down-to-earth. He’s not one for showboating or over-the-top self-promotion. His focus is on racing, improving, and representing his supporters and sponsors with integrity.

He’s also a growing role model for younger riders looking to break into the sport—proof that with hard work, the right attitude, and a strong support system, dreams can become reality.

“I try to be real with people,” he says. “This sport can be brutal sometimes. But if you love it, and you’re willing to graft, it gives back in the best ways.”

The Road Ahead

As Charlie Nesbitt gears up for what could be a defining season, there’s a quiet confidence in his approach. He’s not here to make up the numbers—he’s here to win. And whether it’s a hard-fought podium at Oulton Park or a breakout victory at Brands Hatch, every lap is a step toward something bigger.

His story is still being written, but one thing’s for certain: Charlie Nesbitt is a name you’ll be hearing a lot more of in the years to come.

So keep your eyes on #86—because when Charlie hits the track, he’s not just racing.

He’s chasing history.
