RST at the Isle of Man TT: 2025
The Isle of Man TT is one of the world’s most thrilling motorcycle races. For two weeks, the island transforms into a biker’s paradise—and this year, RST was there for a race week that once again made history.
The 2024 IOM TT had been an odd one (or maybe not if you know what the islands weather can be like). Unfortunately, rain had caused a lot of disruption to the schedule and we ended up with limited practice time for the riders and a rather cramped and reduced race week. Although frustrating a year ago, this had meant the thirst for seeing the 2025 event was even more anticipated.
This year we headed to the island with 4 main contenders to the titles, with Davey Todd's 2024 performances very much adding himself into a Big 4; alongside Dunlop, Harrison and Hickman.
Storylines were aplenty with Dunlop aiming to become the first rider in history to reach 30 wins, Harrison was aiming to end his drought of wins (and Honda's), Hickman was looking to add to his 14 TT wins and Davey Todd was hoping to better his impressive 2024 showing.
There were also storylines regarding the big 4's manufacturers this year, Harrison was the only one riding for the same team/manufacturer in 2025.
Dunlop had made the switch to BMW for the big bike classes but he was also going to be riding a Ducati at the TT for the first time in his career.
As for Hicky and Todd - they had previously had the backing of FHO (the factory-supported BMWs), however for 2025 FHO had decided to pull out; leaving Hickman and Todd to form their own team 8Ten Racing - still with BWM machinery, but without the factory support.
Practice Week
Practice week began with all eyes on the Mountain Course—but the weather had other ideas. Conditions ranged from sketchy to severe, with fog and rain repeatedly hampering sessions and forcing last-minute changes to the schedule. Despite the disruptions, RST-supported riders—including Ian Hutchinson, Jamie Coward, Paul Jordan, and Ryan Cringle—made steady progress, dialling in their setups in preparation for race week.
Race Week
RST x D3O Superbike TT
Up first in race week the spotlight fell firmly on the RST x D3O Superbike TT, and it didn’t disappoint.
Davey Todd delivered a sensational victory, overcoming an early near-disaster in the final lap to secure his maiden Superbike TT win. With Peter Hickman sidelined due to injury, Todd stepped up with confidence, showcasing both skill and nerves of steel to hold off fierce competition and give the RST x D3O title race the finish it deserved.
Michael Dunlop’s hopes of a win were dashed after mechanical issues, but the legacy rider showed grit throughout the race to bring his BMW in for a 2nd place finish. For Todd, it was a landmark moment—not just a win, but a statement to start race week.
The best finishing RST rider was Nathan Harrison - an impressive 4th place for the manxman.
